Display: Using the first line in a book to entice readers

I have been curating some awesome library displays from the web (thank you, Pinterest!) and I'm finding opportunities to use them in my Media Centre. This week, it was a First Lines display.
  • I choose around 15 books with great first lines.
  • I printed out each of the lines on white paper - I fitted two on each page and cut them in half.
  • I taped the top of each piece to its respective book, so it made a flap.
  • Then I popped them up on a display rack. I kept some back because I wanted the students to be able to take them out if they liked the look of them.
Here's what the display looked like, and the interaction it created (snapped using Instagram...)
