The battle is on!

We launched our Grade 8 reading programme this week, called the Battle of the Bookworms - the battle, however, is not against each other, but rather a challenge each student sets for herself. Over a period of around three months, each girl needs to read six to eight books from an extensive list drawn from our library, and has to do a book talk or review on each book. At this point, they receive a certificate of achievement.

Depending on the challenge they have set themselves, some go on to read more, and at every extra six to eight books they read, they receive a further certificate. Last year, two girls read over fifty books!

At the conclusion, we have a fun prizegiving, with girls receiving awards for a variety of achievements, including prizes for those who might not have read the most, but who benefited the most from the programme.
