Side Effects May Vary, by Julie Murphy
Plot: After Alice is diagnosed with cancer, she decides to settle some scores before she dies. But then she goes into remission - and has to face the consequences. What I think: Alice got on my nerves. But she's supposed to. She makes mistakes, she's angry, she does bad things. And it all makes her so real.
Why you should read it: Because it's not just 'another cancer book'. And it doesn't all neatly tie up in the end. This feels like real life.
Favorite quote: If you love someone so much, why the hell would you be happy to see them with anyone else?
