It's a tough one, but I'm going to go for We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart.
It's no secret that I like my YA dark and gritty, and E. Lockhart's tragic tale reels you in with hints of typical teenage self-absorption and angst and falling in love in a world of wealth, then drops clues to the darkness and brokenness of Cadence, the narrator. Finally the author hauls you out on the other dramatic side in shock and awe, and you'll want to turn back to the beginning to read it all over again...
